A systematic review of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in aphasia rehabilitation: Leads for future studies

نویسندگان

چکیده

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a non-invasive tool that induces neuromodulation in the brain. Several studies have shown rTMS improves language recovery patients with post-stroke aphasia. This systematic review summarizes role of aphasia rehabilitation. We searched MEDLINE via PubMed and Scopus on 30October, 2020, for English articles (1996–2020). Eligible involved rehabilitation rTMS. Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in Aphasia and Communication Impairment in Post-Stroke: Systematic Review of Literature

Background: Post-stroke aphasia is one of the major disabilities and a risk factor for other complications, is also associated with increased mortality, depression and impairments in communication. Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) is an alternative. We propose the review of literature published until now of rTMS. Methods: We included articles published on PubMed and EMBASE, w...

Transcranial magnetic stimulation and aphasia rehabilitation.

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has been reported to improve naming in chronic stroke patients with nonfluent aphasia since 2005. In part 1, we review the rationale for applying slow, 1-Hz, rTMS to the undamaged right hemisphere in chronic nonfluent aphasia patients after a left hemisphere stroke; and we present a transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) protocol used with th...

The effect of low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on the treatment of aphasia caused by cerebrovascular accident (CVA)

Background: Aphasia is a common outcome of Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) in which clinical interventions have limited effectiveness. Some evidence suggests that noninvasive stimulation of the brain can have beneficial effects in the treatment of CVA induced aphasia. In patients with motor aphasia, repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) is used to facilitate long-term improvement i...

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for major depressive disorder: a review.

Several studies demonstrated that repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is an efficacious treatment for treatment-resistant major depressive disorder (TRD). Recent metaanalyses and more recent large multicentre studies provided evidence suggesting that rTMS is indeed a promising treatment; however, its efficacy has often been shown to be modest, compared with sham stimulation. We ...

Efficacy of transcranial direct current stimulation and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for treating fibromyalgia syndrome: a systematic review.

OBJECTIVE  To systematically review the literature to date applying repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) or transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for patients with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS). METHOD  Electronic bibliography databases screened included PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, PsychINFO, CINAHL, and Cochrane Library. The keyword "fibromyalgia" was combined with ("transcra...
